The Jordan College of the Arts Composers Orchestra is Butler University’s new music ensemble and thus the vehicle for our student composers to have their work performed. The instrumentation of this group changes every semester, but is typically a large chamber group, made up of players and singers who are interested in performing work by living composers of every style and genre. We also are dedicated to performing works that use improvisation, alternate musical notation, theatrical elements, and works by composers of the Fluxus movement.
On tonight’s concert, we’ll be performing pieces by Ella King, Carly Erst, Alex McGrath, John Qualkenbush, Kirk Nurock, and Academy Award winner, Michael Nyman.
