Certain questions tend to rise over and over through history like the merits and risks of socialism including the plight of the poor, the rights of workers, the rights of people with a different sexual orientation, in short, the marginalized. America has recently revisited many of these topics through a campaign and election cycle. Marc Blitzstein personally wrestled with all these issues. His operas and his life were molded by this idealistic struggle. His ideals were his inspiration, so he devoted his life to creating art that mattered, offering stimulation to better the world instead of offering an escape from it. Join us as we explore the life and ideals of Marc Blitzstein through his brilliant words and his deeply expressive music.
